Privacy Policy

When you translate text, look up a word, or play audio, the text you enter is sent to our server so we can return a result. To produce translations and speech, that text is processed by trusted third-party providers — Anthropic (Claude) for translation and ElevenLabs for Tetun text-to-speech. Please do not enter passwords, financial details, or other highly sensitive personal information.

We do not require you to create an account or provide your name, email, or phone number to use the translator.

Server logs. To monitor translation quality, fix problems, and prevent abuse, our server keeps limited logs which may include the text of translation requests and their results, along with technical data such as IP address and timestamp. These logs are retained only as long as needed for those purposes and are not used to build a profile of you.

On your device (app). The iOS app saves your translation history, saved items, and preferences locally on your device only. This data is not uploaded to us, and you can clear it any time from within the app.

Audio cache. Generated speech may be cached on the server and on your device so repeat playback is faster.

We use the data above solely to operate and improve the translator — returning results, maintaining quality, and protecting the service from abuse and excessive use. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Tetun Translator is a general-audience language tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

You can use the translator without providing any identifying information. In the app you can clear your local history and saved items at any time. If you would like us to delete server-side logs that relate to your use, contact us and we will do our best to assist.
